PM Kisan: The year 2026 has begun with great excitement for millions of farmers awaiting their next installment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. If you, too, are eagerly awaiting the 22nd installment of PM Kisan, this news holds significant significance for you as the government has now implemented new, stricter rules regarding Farmer ID and eKYC. Currently, 21 installments have been successfully released until January 2026, and the 22nd installment is highly likely to arrive in February 2026.

Farmer ID Changes Before the 22nd Installment

The central government is about to make a revolutionary change to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. A Unique Farmer ID may now be mandatory for every beneficiary farmer. This ID will be a “digital identity” for the farmer, ensuring not only the PM Kisan installment but also opening the door to other significant benefits related to the agricultural sector.

With the creation of this steel ID, farmers will receive seed and fertilizer subsidies directly and in the correct amounts. Furthermore, delays in crop insurance claim settlements will be eliminated. The biggest benefit is that farmers will be relieved of the hassle of repeatedly visiting government offices to submit documents.

Process to complete Aadhaar eKYC

The government has clarified that the 22nd installment will be withheld for farmers whose eKYC is incomplete. Completing it from home is very simple. First, open the official website pmkisan.gov.in and go to ‘Farmers Corner’ on the homepage, and click on the eKYC option.

After entering your Aadhaar number, an OTP will be sent to your linked mobile number. Upon submitting it, the message ‘eKYC Successful’ will appear on the screen. This simple process will pave the way for your steel installation.

How to Get a Farmer ID

To obtain a unique Farmer ID, farmers must register online on their state’s AgriStack portal. The process begins with Aadhaar-based eKYC, after which you must map your land records (Khatauni) and family details. Once the Agriculture Department verifies the information you provide, your unique digital ID is generated. This ID will eliminate the need for you to repeatedly carry documents to the bank or Patwari in the future.

How to Check the Beneficiary List

To maintain transparency in the scheme, the government has made it very easy to check the status. To do this, go to the ‘Beneficiary Status’ section on the portal and enter your Aadhaar number or mobile number. Fill in the captcha and click ‘Get Data’, and you will be presented with the details of all your previous installments and the current status of the 22nd installment. Here you can also check whether your ‘Land Seeding’ and ‘Aadhaar Bank Mapping’ status is ‘Yes’ or not.
