FASTag KYC Update: Avoid Toll Blockage — Complete This Mandatory Step Online in Minutes

While FASTag has made cashless toll payments completely easy, millions of people are still unaware of the mandatory KYC (Know Your Customer) requirement. FASTag KYC is a mandatory process that keeps your tag valid and active. If it’s not completed, your FASTag could be immediately blocked, and the barrier at the toll plaza won’t open. This could delay your journey. Therefore, if you haven’t updated your KYC, complete it immediately. The entire process can be completed online in just a few minutes.

Why is FASTag KYC mandatory

Both the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have directed all FASTag-issuing banks and wallet companies to fully update the KYC of every user.

Security and Limitation Rules

The basic purpose of KYC is to ensure that the FASTag is issued in the name of the actual owner and is not being used for any malicious purpose. A FASTag without KYC is considered a limited-use tag. This means you can’t deposit more than a certain amount into it.

After a certain limit is reached, it will automatically be blocked. In many cases, transactions fail despite having a balance, primarily due to a lack of KYC. This leads to long queues at toll plazas and unnecessary travel delays. Therefore, keeping your KYC up-to-date is extremely important for those who regularly travel on highways.

FASTag KYC Updating Process

You can easily complete FASTag KYC both online and offline. The online process is the fastest and most convenient.

First, visit the official website or app of the bank or wallet company from which you purchased the FASTag.

Select the KYC Update option under ‘FASTag Services’.

Log in and proceed to fill in your KYC details.

You will now need to upload the required documents, such as your Aadhaar card, PAN card, and vehicle registration certificate (RC).

After submitting the details, you will receive an update message on your registered mobile number within a few hours.

Offline Process

If you prefer to complete your KYC offline, you can visit your nearest bank branch or FASTag center. You will need to submit the required documents there.

Very Important Note: Ensure that the mobile number linked to your FASTag is active, as the OTP for verification is sent to that number. Once KYC is complete, your FASTag will remain fully active and will never be blocked at toll plazas.
