The primary objective of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is to improve the nutrition and health of both the mother and the newborn. Under this scheme, first-time mothers receive a total of ₹5,000, disbursed in three installments. This amount helps meet the essential nutritional, medical check-up, and rest needs during pregnancy.

In addition, if a woman’s second child is a daughter, she receives an additional ₹6,000. In this way, an eligible woman can receive a total assistance of up to ₹11,000. This amount is transferred directly to her bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring both transparency and convenience.

Application Process for the Scheme

To apply for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, interested women must visit the scheme’s official website, pmmvy.wcd.gov.in. They are required to fill out the online application form. The minimum age for applying is 19 years. An Aadhaar card, a ration card, a bank passbook, and pregnancy-related medical documents are required.

Importantly, applications can only be made within 270 days of the child’s birth. The benefits of this scheme are given to all eligible women of the country, which include Scheduled Caste, the Scheduled Tribe, disabled women, and beneficiary women associated with the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
