FASTag Inactive Alert: With the increasing use of FASTag in Delhi and across India, some vehicle owners were facing problems with “Inactive” or blocked tags at toll plazas. The main reason for this was the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) verification process, which was implemented in 2023. Vehicle owners were required to upload their vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC) and a photo of the vehicle. The aim was to ensure that the FASTag was linked to the correct vehicle. However, this process proved complex and time-consuming for many drivers.

Major Changes to the KYV Process in 2025
Taking into account the complaints from vehicle owners, NHAI and IHMCL have simplified the KYV process in 2025. Now, only a front photo of the vehicle needs to be uploaded, clearly showing the number plate and the FASTag. The system automatically retrieves the RC details from the VAHAN database using the mobile number or vehicle number. Furthermore, FASTags will not be immediately blocked for incomplete KYV processes; instead, SMS reminders will be sent first.
Users with Multiple Vehicles and Document Assistance
If multiple vehicles are linked to the same mobile number, users can now select their preferred vehicle to complete the KYV process. If there are any problems uploading documents, the FASTag issuing bank is obligated to assist the user. This has made using FASTag easier and more hassle-free than ever before.

Easy Process to Complete KYV
First, log in to https://fastag.ihmcl.com. After logging in with your registered mobile number, upload a front photo of your vehicle. The RC details will appear automatically. After confirmation, you can submit the KYV. In case of any difficulties, you can call the 1033 helpline or contact your FASTag bank.
The Need for KYV
The main purpose of KYV is to make the FASTag system transparent, secure, and reliable. It helps enforce the “One Vehicle, One FASTag” rule, preventing toll tax evasion and misuse.
