Maruti Suzuki is poised to make a significant leap forward in the Indian automobile industry with its first electric SUV, the e-Vitara. The car is scheduled to hit showrooms in December 2025, though the exact launch date has yet to be officially announced. Essentially, this model is the production version of the cutting-edge eVX concept that was first unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo.

The vehicle will directly challenge the mid-size electric SUV segment, competing directly with the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and Tata Curve EV. The e-Vitara will be the first and most significant symbol of Maruti’s electric revolution on Indian roads.

A Global Vision

Maruti Suzuki’s ambitions are not limited to the Indian market. The company has designated its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat, as the global production hub for the e-Vitara. It’s a proud fact that this electric SUV is made in India.

The company has already begun exporting the SUV to 12 European countries, including Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Norway, and France. Suzuki aims to export it to over 100 countries in the future, positioning India as a leading export hub for electric vehicles.

Powerful Performance and Range

The e-Vitara will be offered with two excellent battery pack options, allowing customers to choose according to their needs. The first option will be a 49 kWh battery pack, which will generate a powerful 144 bhp electric engine and a maximum torque of 189 Nm. The second, even more powerful option, is a 61 kWh battery pack, which will be available in two configurations.

The two-wheel drive (2WD) version will deliver 174 bhp, while the all-wheel drive (4WD) variant will deliver a massive 184 bhp. This all-wheel drive version will feature an additional 65 bhp motor on the rear axle, producing a massive 300 Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki has officially confirmed that the Indian-specific e-Vitara will be capable of delivering a driving range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge, providing excellent convenience for long-distance journeys.

The interior of the e-Vitara

It features a more premium and futuristic design than existing Maruti cars. Step inside and you’re sure to offer a luxurious experience. The cabin features fabric and leatherette upholstery, creating a sense of luxury. To enhance the driving experience, it features not one, but two screens: a large infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. Furthermore, a floating center console with a gloss black finish and a twin-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel further enhances its modern appeal.

In terms of features, this SUV is packed with state-of-the-art features. It features a wireless phone charger, multiple USB ports, 3-point seat belts for all passengers, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The biggest leap forward on the safety front is that the e-Vitara incorporates safety features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). The exterior design features striking tri-slash LED DRLs, a front charging port, and 18-inch alloy wheels, giving it a striking look. Pillar-mounted rear door handles add a unique touch to its sporty design.
