Maruti Suzuki will make a significant entry in the Indian electric vehicle market. From August 26, the company will roll out production of its first electric SUV, the e-Vitara. Previously shown at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the model is likely to contend with others such as Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6 and MG Windsor EV. Its launch may put further pressure on Tata Nexon EV in specific.
Outside Design
Maruti Suzuki has concentrated on a top-end design for the e-Vitara. The front receives LED projector headlamps, Y-shaped LED DRLs and fog lamps. Because it is an electric vehicle, it does not require a radiator grille, which makes it look clean and tidy. On the sides, the SUV features black cladding and aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheels. The back looks distinctive with a glossy black strip bridging three-piece LED tail lamps and a sporty black bumper.
Safety
The SUV is packed with safety features. It has seven airbags, a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). Such additions make it a good option for safety-oriented families seeking an electric SUV.
Battery Options and Range
The e-Vitara will be available with two battery options in the international market, and such choices may be anticipated in India. The 49 kWh pack offers up to 344 km range with a FWD configuration producing 142 bhp and 193 Nm. The larger 61 kWh pack comes with FWD as well as AWD. In FWD, it offers up to 426 km range with 171 bhp, whereas the AWD produces 181 bhp and 307 Nm with a 395 km range.
Charging Capabilities
Charging is adaptable according to the used charger. The 49 kWh battery requires approximately 6.5 hours with a 7 kW AC charger and 4.5 hours with an 11 kW unit. The higher-capacity 61 kWh pack would take approximately nine hours on a 7 kW charger or 5.5 hours on an 11 kW unit. Both packs may be filled up to 80 percent in merely 45 minutes with a DC fast charger.
