Ration Card : If you haven’t yet completed your ration card’s e-KYC, be careful. The government has dealt a major blow to all such ration card holders. Now, those without e-KYC will not receive free rations. The district administration has taken strict action and placed such cardholders on hold. According to reports, approximately two lakh people in Kanpur have not yet completed their e-KYC, which is why they will not receive free rations this month.

Only those whose e-KYC has been completed are now included in the ration distribution process. The e-POS machines at the ration dealers only display the names of beneficiaries who have completed their e-KYC on time. The names of those who have not yet completed this process have been removed from the machine. These people will no longer be able to receive the five kilograms of free ration.

Officials say that once people complete their e-KYC, their names will be reactivated and they will begin receiving rations again from next month. As part of the ration card verification campaign, the district administration repeatedly made people aware of the need to complete e-KYC. Even the deadline was extended several times so that ration was not stopped for any eligible person. However, despite warnings and appeals, thousands of people still did not complete the process.

After this, a decision was taken at the government level to stop the ration of the units of those who did not complete e-KYC. Officials said that as soon as these people complete e-KYC, their units will be re-linked to their old ration cards. District Supply Officer Rakesh Kumar stated that approximately 2.5 million e-KYCs have been completed in Kanpur district so far, with approximately 200,000 remaining. He added that there are 1,376 ration shops operating in the district, with approximately 800,000 cardholders.

Of these, 65,000 are Antyodaya card holders and approximately 740,000 are eligible household cardholders. The official explained that those who are unable to complete their e-KYC—such as the elderly, disabled, or those suffering from leprosy—can seek assistance by applying to the supply office in their tehsil or the area office in their city. Rakesh Kumar appealed to all cardholders to complete their e-KYC as soon as possible so that they can resume receiving free rations from next month.
