Ration Card New Update: Daughters often faced difficulties regarding the ration received under the Public Distribution System after marriage. Getting their name removed from their parents’ ration card and added to their in-laws’ card was a long and complicated process. Considering this problem, the Food and Civil Supplies Department has implemented a new system, providing relief to married women.
Ration Now Available from In-Laws’ Ration Shop
Under the new system, married daughters will now receive their ration from their in-laws’ designated ration shop. The Supply Department is directly transferring the ration entitlement from the parents’ ration card to the in-laws’ ration card. Beneficiaries will no longer need to visit multiple offices for this process.

Relief from Technical Glitches
Previously, the process of removing and adding names to ration cards involved data transfer to national and state data centers, which took 45 to 90 days. In many cases, technical errors resulted in duplicate entries, preventing married women from receiving their ration for some time. This problem has been largely eliminated with the new online facility.
Online Transfer Makes the Process Easier
Now, by presenting both the parents’ and in-laws’ ration cards at the Supply Inspector’s office, the married woman’s name is immediately added to her in-laws’ ration card. This ensures that there is no delay in receiving the ration. The department has successfully transferred hundreds of names in several blocks so far.
Direct Benefit to Poor Families
The biggest benefit of this facility is being received by poor families. The fear of ration being stopped after marriage is now gone. The department has clarified that this facility is currently available only for married women, so that they do not have to face difficulties in meeting their basic needs.

According to Supply Inspector Indrabhan Singh, the online transfer facility has been introduced considering the problems associated with married women’s ration cards. This is providing beneficiaries with immediate access to ration and has made the process much easier.
