Ration Card New Update: If you are a ration card holder, this news could be very important for you. The government has tightened its grip on ration card holders. The government has made it clear that e-KYC is mandatory for all ration card holders in this state. Otherwise, they will stop receiving ration benefits. This decision has been taken by the Chhattisgarh government.
According to government rules, if even one member of a family of five has not completed their KYC, the entire family’s ration is stopped. As a result, more than 1.2 million people across the state have been deprived of government rations. Complaints are coming in from several districts, including the capital Raipur, that people are being forced to visit fair price shops and food department offices repeatedly.

Senior officials of the Food Department repeatedly claim on public platforms that no poor person’s ration will be stopped. But the reality is quite the opposite. Due to incomplete e-KYC on the online portal, many beneficiaries are not receiving their rations. In Raipur district alone, more than 15,000 families are facing this crisis. This situation is alarming for middle and low-income families.

Officials say that despite repeated appeals and extensions of the deadline, a large number of people were not taking the verification process seriously. This strict step had to be taken to prevent fraud and ensure the identification of genuine beneficiaries. The department has clarified that ration distribution will not resume until the KYC of every family member is complete. This has now been implemented as a ‘No KYC, No Ration’ policy.

Complete e-KYC from the comfort of your home
The Food Department has also provided a solution. Beneficiaries can now complete this process from home without standing in queues at ration shops by downloading the mobile app ‘Mera e-KYC’. Despite this, due to technical illiteracy and network problems in rural areas, a large number of people are still standing in long queues outside offices. It remains to be seen whether the government will relax this policy in light of the growing public anger and complaints, or whether the e-KYC process will remain stringent.
