Aadhar Card download process is now more smart. Without downloading multiple apps or any hassle, you can get your copy of Aadhar Card through your WhatsApp as well. For that, there is a new feature everyone should know.
This new government feature works through the MyGov Helpdesk chatbot, which is now integrated with DigiLocker. This means that any documents already linked to your DigiLocker account, such as Aadhaar, PAN card, marksheets, etc., can be accessed via WhatsApp. This service is fully end-to-end encrypted, ensuring your information remains completely secure. Your mobile number must be linked to Aadhaar. You must have an active DigiLocker account. If not, you can easily create one on the DigiLocker website or app. You must also save the MyGov Helpdesk WhatsApp number, 91-9013151515, on your phone.
How to download Aadhaar from WhatsApp:
- Save 91-9013151515 in your mobile as ‘MyGov Helpdesk’.
- Now open WhatsApp and send ‘Hi’ to this number.
- Within a short while you will get options – select DigiLocker Services from here.
- The chatbot will ask if you have a DigiLocker account. If so, select ‘Yes.’
- Now enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number.
- An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, enter it and complete the verification.
- Once verified, a list of documents linked to DigiLocker will appear.
- Select Aadhaar card from here, and within a few seconds you will receive your password-protected PDF Aadhaar card on WhatsApp.
You can download only one document at a time. Only documents that are already linked to your DigiLocker account will be visible. If your Aadhaar or other document isn’t displayed, you’ll need to manually link it first through the DigiLocker app or website.
This initiative by UIDAI and MyGov further strengthens the government’s Digital India initiative. Now, people don’t need to wait in lines, find a cafe, or print documents—with just a WhatsApp message, you can get your crucial identity documents delivered to your doorstep.
