Like the Asia Cup 2025, India women’s team also avoided handshake with Pakistan. After the toss of India Women’s vs Pakistan Women’s ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur did not show any intention to do a handshake with Pakistan women’s team captain.

Harmanpreet Kaur tossed the coin, and Fatima Sana called tails. Match referee Shandre Fitz and toss presenter Mel Jones then declared “heads is the call,” and heads came back. Clearly, the coin tossed in India’s favor, meaning Harmanpreet Kaur had won the toss. However, Pakistan was declared the winner, and Sana was asked what she would like to do first. Sana said she would prefer to bowl first if she won the toss. This doesn’t usually happen in cricket matches. But the biggest question is why Harmanpreet Kaur didn’t raise this question. Did she not hear properly? Or did she overhear Fatima Sana’s voice due to the stadium noise? If the captain didn’t hear, it’s the presenter’s responsibility to correct it, but that didn’t happen.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and elected to bowl first in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup match against India on Sunday. Pakistan made one change, including top-order batsman Sadaf Shams in the playing eleven. India replaced the ill Amanjot Kaur with Renuka Singh.

India maintains ‘no-handshake policy’

Sticking to the Indian men’s team’s ‘no-handshake policy’ with Pakistan, women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur also did not shake hands with the Pakistan captain during the toss. India’s men’s team recently did not shake hands with the opposition during the three matches against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Champion India also refused to accept the winner’s trophy from Pakistan’s Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Asian Cricket Council.
