Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Thar 5-Door has been one of the most talked about SUVs for the last few months. We last saw such a promotion for another Mahindra product, the XUV700, and now it looks like Mahindra is repeating the same formula on the Thar 5-door as well. Many features have been revealed in Thar 5-door and one more feature has been seen, which is also found in XUV700.
Features of Thar 5-door
The Thar 5-door was expected to come with ADAS and now a test mule has also been spotted with it. The camera module can be seen behind the IRVM in the spy photos. Additionally, the XUV 3XO is also expected to get ADAS, with Mahindra definitely making it a mainstream safety feature. Other elements in the spy photos include the new grille and LED headlamp setup that we already know about. We also got to see an electric sunroof. Whereas at the rear we see LED taillamp and spare tyre.
The Thar 5-door is expected to get a new dashboard layout. It is expected to get different upholstery and updated dashboard. Other new features include a digital instrument cluster, larger infotainment, more storage space, roof-mounted speakers, AdrenoX connectivity, 3-spoke steering wheel, etc.
Specification
The Thar 5-door will require a better tune than the 3-door version and will come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines with similar performance to the Scorpio-N. So we can expect the petrol engine to be capable of generating 200bhp power and 370Nm torque. Whereas the diesel engine will generate output of 172bhp and 370Nm. Transmission options are expected to include manual and automatic gearboxes. The Thar 5-door may come with a 4×4 option at launch and 4×2 will be launched later.
Price
In the new spy pictures, Thar is seen as a 5-door production ready model. Mahindra may launch this SUV in August on the occasion of Independence Day, like the 3-door version was launched in 2020. Regarding the price, the estimated price of Thar 5-door is expected to be between Rs 18 lakh to Rs 23 lakh.
