7th Pay Commission: The central government announced a 4% increase in dearness allowance (DA) and pensioner increment (DR) for employees and pensioners in 2024. Subsequently, DA increased by 50%, resulting in some allowances also increasing by up to 25%.
Increase in children’s education allowance and hostel subsidy
After the 50% increase in DA, there was an automatic increase of 25% in children’s education allowance and hostel subsidy. it means that:
Children’s Education Allowance: Rs 2812.5 per month (earlier Rs 2250)
Hostel Subsidy: Rs 8437.5 per month (earlier Rs 6750)
Education allowance for disabled children
Education allowance for disabled children has been doubled to Rs 5625 per month. This allowance will be applicable to all disabled children of Government employees, irrespective of the actual expenses incurred by them.
Child care allowance for disabled women
Child care allowance for disabled women has been increased to Rs 3750 per month. This allowance is effective from January 1, 2024.

The increase in DA will not be included in the salary.
All these changes are effective from January 1, 2024.
