Before the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) begins, a new controversy has erupted. This controversy stems from a dispute between the PCB and PSL franchise Multan Sultans. It is reported that the PCB has threatened to expel Multan Sultans from the PSL, and the Pakistan Cricket Board has even sent a notice to the franchise owner. However, the Multan Sultans owner’s response to the notice was shown on camera to the entire world.
What the franchise owner said
After receiving a legal notice from the PCB, Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen released a video in which he appeared to give his opinion on each point of the notice. He then proceeded to tear the notice into two pieces on camera at the end of the video.
Now, the first question is why did the PCB send a legal notice to the owner of the Multan Sultans? The reason for the PCB’s notice was Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen’s sharp remarks, in which he appeared to criticize the PSL and its governing bodies. According to reports, Ali Tareen openly made outspoken comments about how the PSL is run and how its finances are handled, which angered the PCB.
He made some other claims also
Not only this, Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen also revealed in his video that the PCB had mentioned his 10-minute delay to a Zoom meeting in its legal notice. Ali Tareen stated that the PCB had asked him to apologize, but he would not do so. He cited his legal team as the reason for not apologizing and stated that he did the right thing. Ali Tareen also stated that the PCB needs yes-men and wants to run everything their own way. However, the question now is, what will happen after the Multan Sultans owner refused to apologize and even tore up the legal notice? If this controversy persists, the PCB may field two new teams in the 11th season in place of Multan Sultans, the only PSL champions in 2021.
