As India won the first game of the three-match ODI series against South Africa, cricket fans are mostly talking about how brilliantly Indian batters did their work. Especially people are talking about Virat Kohli. But Harshit Rana and other Indian bowlers also played their parts well.
Harshit Rana’s celebration after talking the wicket of Dewald Brevis
Harshit Rana ripped apart South Africa’s top order in the first ODI, taking two big wickets in his first and second overs of the match: Ryan Rickelton and Quinton de Kock. He bowled Rickelton (0) with the first ball of the over, followed by a brilliant delivery that had de Kock caught by the wicketkeeper. But his most visibly angry outburst was after the dismissal of Dewald Brevis.
Harshit Rana was so enraged after taking the wicket of Dewald Brevis that he couldn’t control himself. A video of his celebration is going viral on social media. Dewald Brevis played a quickfire innings of 37 runs off 28 balls in Ranchi, hitting three sixes and two fours.
Brevis also tried to hit a big shot off the fourth ball of the 22nd over bowled by Harshit Rana, but was caught by Ruturaj Gaikwad on the boundary. This angered Harshit. Brevis had hit a ‘no look’ six in Harshit’s previous over, which may have fueled Harshit’s anger. However, it’s difficult to say whether Brevis also said anything after hitting the six, which angered Harshit.
South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first. India, batting first, scored 349 for 8 in 50 overs. Virat Kohli scored 135 runs off 120 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 11 fours.

Rohit Sharma played a historic innings of 57 runs, hitting three sixes in this innings. He broke Shahid Afridi’s world record and now holds the record for most sixes (352) in ODIs. Captain KL Rahul (60) also scored a half-century in Ranchi.
