Another day and another record for Virat Kohli. Cricket fans at the New Raipur stadium witnessed the greatness of ‘King’ Kohli. 53rd ODI hundred for the Indian batting maestro.

Virat Kohli scored his 53rd ODI century

Virat Kohli displayed his batting prowess in the second match of the three-match ODI series between India and South Africa. In this match being played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur, Kohli reached his century in just 90 balls and put his team in a strong position. This is his 53rd ODI century.

This is Kohli’s second consecutive international century and his 84th. Prior to this, Kohli had also made a splash with his bat in the Ranchi ODI, scoring 135 runs. He continued that form in Raipur, strengthening Team India’s middle order and troubling the opposition bowlers. Furthermore, this is Kohli’s third consecutive 50+ score. Prior to these two ODIs, Kohli had scored a half-century in Sydney.

With this century, Kohli has now scored his 10th century against South Africa across all three formats (Test, ODI, and T20). With this achievement, he equaled Ricky Ponting, David Warner, and Kane Williamson. Kohli is now joint second on this list, behind only Sachin Tendulkar.
