During his innings of 162 runs, Vinod hit 13 fours and 14 sixes. But Vinod missed breaking another record. Prithvi Shaw holds the record for the highest score in a run chase in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This Mumbai batsman scored an unbeaten 185 runs off 123 balls while chasing a target of 285 runs against Saurashtra in March 2021. Vinod fell short of breaking this record by just 23 runs.

The match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium A Ground in Ahmedabad, where Kerala had to chase the target against Puducherry. Puducherry batted first and scored 247 runs. In reply, Kerala lost wickets early, losing both their openers for just 30 runs. Sanju Samson was dismissed cheaply, scoring just 11 runs.
After this, Baba Aparajith and Vishnu Vinod took charge of the innings, adopting an aggressive approach, and achieved the target in just 29 overs. Aparajith scored an unbeaten 63 runs. Vishnu Vinod scored at a strike rate of 192.86.
