Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Mustafizur Rahman’s exclusion from IPL 2026, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced its squad for the ICC T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, starting February 7.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das as captain for the upcoming mega event. Bangladesh have been placed in Group C, where they will play their first match against two-time trophy winners West Indies on February 7 at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.

Speaking of the Bangladesh squad announced for the T20 World Cup 2026, captain Liton Das, Tanzid Hasan, and Parvez Hossain Emon will be responsible for the batting. The team will also feature experienced Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed in the bowling department, while Mehidy Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain will be seen handling the spin department, who can play the role of match-winning bowlers in Asian conditions. Bangladesh has participated in every T20 World Cup since 2007, but has never reached the semi-finals. Therefore, their performance will be closely watched this time around.

Schedule of Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup

Bangladesh, captained by Liton Das, will play their first match in the upcoming T20 World Cup against the West Indies on February 7th. They will face Italy in their second match on February 9th. They will play their third match against England at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on February 14th. Bangladesh will then play their final group stage match against Nepal at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on February 17th.
