EPFO Service: If you are working and part of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), you can easily access information regarding your PF balance and claim status via WhatsApp. Just send a message saying ‘Hello’, and all the details will show up on your smartphone screen. This service is available 24/7.
To enhance accessibility for its members and streamline services, the EPFO is set to introduce a new feature on the widely-used messaging platform soon. As reported by Business Today, the primary goal of this initiative is to enable subscribers to quickly check their PF balance, review their last five transactions, and monitor their claim status effortlessly.

WhatsApp support services will be beneficial for members eligible under the Pradhan Mantri Vikas Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PMVBRY) who have outstanding workloads. This includes those with incomplete verification for UIDAI’s Face Authentication Technology (FAT) and those without enabled Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in their bank accounts. Now, these members can receive essential support and guidance through WhatsApp.
How will this WhatsApp service function?
- Members just need to type “Hello” and send it to the EPFO’s registered WhatsApp number.
- They can also opt to receive EPFO messages on their registered mobile number.
- EPFO will first verify if the WhatsApp message originates from the mobile number linked to the member’s Universal Account Number (UAN).
- Once verified, members will see a straightforward menu in their preferred language. They can access information by selecting options or responding to simple questions.
AI chatbot will respond to inquiries
Sources indicate that an AI chatbot will handle these messages on the EPFO’s side. This chatbot will deliver immediate responses to your queries, either directly or by searching through the EPFO’s database. The entire process will be monitored to assess member satisfaction with the service.
How to check PF balance from EPFO portal?
- To check your PF balance, start by visiting the official EPFO website. Choose the “For Employees” option in the “Our Services” section. Next, click on “Member Passbook.”
- Now, log in using your 12-digit UAN number and password. After logging in, select your Member ID. Your complete PF passbook along with the total deposit amount will be shown on the screen.
- You can also access complete information through the UMANG app.
- Smartphone users can easily check their PF balance using the UMANG app. Download the app, log in, and look for EPFO in the “All Services” section.
- Then, navigate to Employee-Centric Services and click on View Passbook. After entering the OTP sent to your UAN, your balance information will be displayed on the screen.
