New Delhi: 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has been delivering explosive performances in the 2026 IPL, has captured the hearts of everyone. Having played sensational innings ranging from domestic cricket to the IPL, calls are now mounting to include Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the Indian national team. Through his miraculous batting, he has scored runs even against the world’s most formidable bowlers, such as Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood.
On Friday, too, playing a blistering innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Vaibhav scored 78 runs off just 26 balls. Social media is currently abuzz with lavish praise for him. Moreover, people are asking when he will finally get an opportunity to feature in Team India’s playing XI.

What the IPL Chairman Said
According to Indian Premier League Chairman Arun Dhumal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi should be given a chance in the Indian team as soon as possible. Writing on his ‘X’ account, he stated: “Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s batting has been phenomenal this IPL season. Given his performance, this talented player certainly deserves to make his debut for Team India as the youngest-ever player.”
“One rarely gets the opportunity to select a player of such immense talent at such a young age. It would be absolutely fitting for his name to be etched in history as India’s youngest debutant.” Indeed, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s performance this season has been exceptional.
He not only launched attacks against top-tier bowlers but also demonstrated the ability to turn the tide of a match within the Powerplay itself. The consistency of his performance can be gauged from the fact that he is currently leading the race for the ‘Orange Cap’.

According to ICC regulations, a player is eligible to play international cricket only upon reaching a minimum age of 15. Vaibhav Suryavanshi turned 15 on March 27, making him fully eligible for selection. Before this, he had already proven his mettle by playing a blistering innings of 175 runs off just 80 balls in the final of the 2026 Under-19 World Cup.
