Jharkhand defeated Rajasthan by 36 runs in a one-sided match in the Group D match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Jharkhand got this victory on the strength of Virat Singh, who scored a stormy half-century. The left-handed batsman, coming in as an opener, smashed 69 runs in 36 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 4 fours. Kumar Kushagra also played an innings of 55 runs. Robin Minz scored 58 runs in 27 balls.

Jharkhand, batting first, scored 215 runs, in reply, Rajasthan’s team could only manage 179 runs. Rajasthan made a valiant effort to achieve the target. Karan Lamba scored 52 runs and Deepak Hooda made 28. Mahipal Lomror and Mukul Chaudhary also made 25 runs each, but Sushant Mishra and Anukul Roy took 3 wickets each to ensure Rajasthan’s defeat. Rajandeep also took 2 wickets. Jharkhand secured a place in the quarterfinals by finishing top of Group D. They won all seven matches. Rajasthan also qualified, winning six out of seven matches. Their only defeat came against Jharkhand.

Both Virat Singh and Ishan Kishan played crucial roles in Jharkhand’s run-chase to the knockout stages. Virat Singh scored 271 runs in seven matches at an average of 54.2. Ishan Kishan also scored 271 runs in six innings. In bowling, Sushant Mishra (15) and Anukul Roy (14) helped the team win matches.

Mohammed Shami also shines

In another Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match, Mohammed Shami also bowled brilliantly. He took 4 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs against Haryana. Akash Deep also took 2 wickets, but despite this, Bengal lost. Haryana scored 191 runs in 20 overs, while Bengal could only manage 167 runs in response.
