For the first time in IPL 2026, four major foreign stars have withdrawn from the tournament. These are the same players who have been playing in the IPL for years and but this time they will not be with their teams.
A total of 1355 players have registered for the auction. Among these, there are a total of 45 names with the highest base price of Rs 2 crore, which include names like Australia’s Cameron Green, England’s Liam Livingstone, India’s Ravi Bishnoi and Venkatesh Iyer. There are four such big players who did not give their names for the next season. In a way, these players have rejected the IPL and decided to play in the Pakistan Premier League i.e. PSL.
4 major players who will not play IPL 2026
1 – Faf du Plessis: He was with the Delhi Capitals last season, but his performance was mediocre and he was released. Following his release from Delhi, the experienced South African batsman has decided to play in the Pakistan Super League. Faf has scored nearly 5,000 runs in 154 IPL matches. He is one of the league’s senior batsmen.
2 – Andre Russell: One of Kolkata Knight Riders’ most explosive players, was also released by KKR, after which he retired from the league. Russell has made it clear that he would now prefer to play in the PSL. Filling his place in the IPL will be difficult for any team. KKR has appointed him as the power coach for the next season.
3 – Moeen Ali: England all-rounder Moeen Ali, who was released by KKR, has also withdrawn from IPL 2026. It is believed that he will also seek a new team in the PSL. IPL teams were eager to acquire him due to his spin and power-hitting, but now he will not be seen in the auction. He played for KKR last season, but his performance was not exceptional.
4 – Glenn Maxwell: Maxwell is not among the players who have submitted their names for the auction. The Australian superstar’s absence has come as a major shock to fans. He didn’t register, meaning he won’t be playing in the 19th season. While it’s unclear whether he will play in the PSL or has simply withdrawn from this season’s IPL, given the growing interest in the PSL, it’s believed he may move in that direction.
