What ingredients are needed to make Chana Masala?

Black chickpeas – 250 grams

Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon

Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon

Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon

Green chilies – 2

Small onion – 1

Cumin powder – 1/2 teaspoon

Ginger-garlic paste – 1 teaspoon

Black pepper powder – 1 pinch

Bay leaves – 2

Oil – 1 tablespoon

Coriander leaves

How is Chana Masala made?

1-First, soak the chickpeas in water overnight.

2- Next, add the chickpeas to the pressure cooker and boil them for 2-3 whistles, but be careful not to overcook them. Once the chickpeas are cooked, remove them and transfer them to another bowl.

3- Next, place a pan on the stove, and once it’s hot, add the oil. Then add two chopped green chillies and half a teaspoon of cumin seeds. When they start to splutter, add 1 teaspoon of garlic paste and finely chopped onion. Then sauté the onion until it turns golden brown.

4- Once the onions are golden brown, add the tomatoes, and when they are well cooked, add 1/2 teaspoon of red chilli powder, 1 teaspoon of coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, and a pinch of black pepper powder. Then mix it well.

5- Finally, add the boiled chickpeas and mix well. Then add salt and fresh coriander and mix again. The spicy chaat masala is now ready.
