Monsoon Alert – Intense cold has gripped many parts of North India, disrupting daily life and causing considerable distress. The biting cold has made life difficult for people in Delhi-NCR as well. Dense fog has prevailed in most parts of Western Uttar Pradesh for the past two days. While there was some weak sunshine on Tuesday, fog enveloped the forests by evening.
At night, the fog spread to villages and cities. Due to the active Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in some hilly areas. Weather in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, severe cold is expected in most states of North India. The IMD has predicted rain and snowfall in three states: Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. The IMD has also predicted a severe cold wave in 15 states.
This could lead to a further drop in temperature. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius yesterday, which was colder than Shimla. The cold is also expected to intensify in Delhi-NCR. The temperature in Safdarjung is expected to be around 3.2 degrees Celsius.
Weather in UP and Bihar
The Meteorological Department has predicted cold winds in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Deoria, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, and Mathura. Cold winds are also expected in Muzaffarnagar and Gautam Buddh Nagar. Winds are expected to blow at a speed of 5 to 10 kilometres per hour in the morning.
In Lucknow, the maximum temperature is expected to be 17 degrees Celsius and the minimum 8 degrees Celsius. The cold is also expected to intensify in Bihar. The level of cold could increase significantly in Patna, Gaya, Siwan, Bhagalpur, Buxar, Purnia, Ara, and Chhapra. A cold wave is expected in several districts, including Darbhanga, Katihar, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Samastipur, Madhubani, and Khagaria.
Rain in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, a heavy rainfall alert has been issued for several places in the southern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Rain is also expected in many areas of Kerala, Telangana, and Puducherry.
