UP Monsoon Update – Uttar Pradesh is currently experiencing a severe cold wave, making it difficult for people to even leave their homes. The falling temperatures and dense fog have intensified the chill. The cold weather has completely disrupted life across North India and the plains, causing considerable distress to everyone.
Amidst the double whammy of cold days, a third threat looms over the people of UP, further worsening the situation. In the coming four days, a new Western Disturbance is expected to affect Northwest India. This could lead to significant weather changes. Rain is predicted in several parts of UP on January 21st and 22nd, accompanied by thunder.

Dense Fog Expected
The IMD has also predicted deteriorating weather conditions in Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Sitapur. Besides these, Bahraich, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, and Maharajganj are likely to experience a significant increase in the intensity of the cold.
Dense fog is expected in Kushinagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Ghazipur. Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Meerut, Agra, Mathura, Baghpat, Sambhal, and Budaun are also likely to experience dense fog. The situation is expected to be quite bad in Rampur, Moradabad, Kanpur, Mainpuri, Etawah, Barabanki, and Ayodhya as well. Sultanpur, Jaunpur, and Varanasi are also likely to experience fog with visibility between 100 and 500 meters in the morning.
Hope for Relief in Lucknow
The IMD predicts a weather turnaround in Lucknow on Sunday. This is expected to bring some relief to the people of Lucknow who are currently shivering in the cold. Light fog is also expected in Lucknow on the morning of January 18th. The minimum temperature here is expected to be around 10 degrees Celsius and the maximum around 22 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, light fog may be observed in Noida, which is adjacent to Delhi, this morning. The minimum temperature there is expected to be around 7 degrees Celsius and the maximum around 22 degrees Celsius. Light rain is also possible in Noida from January 22nd. Professor Manoj Kumar Srivastava, a meteorologist at Banaras Hindu University, said that two new Western Disturbances are likely to bring significant changes to the weather in Uttar Pradesh. The first Western Disturbance is expected to affect Northwest India on January 19th, and similar conditions are expected to prevail on January 21st.
