Bihar Election 2025 Update – The moment has finally arrived when Bihar voters will lock the fate of their preferred candidate in EVMs. Voting for the first phase will begin at 7 am today, for which the Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements. The first phase will decide 121 assembly seats across 18 districts.

Voting will take place in this phase for the constituencies of several NDA and Grand Alliance heavyweights. Bring your ID to the polling station; otherwise, entry will be denied. Voting will continue until 5 pm. The Election Commission has removed fake voters from the list through a special, thorough review. Additional forces have been deployed at highly sensitive polling stations.

How many candidates’ fates will be decided?

The fate of 1,314 candidates will be decided in the first phase of the state elections. According to the Election Commission’s report, the constituencies where elections are being held today have approximately 37.5 million voters. The NDA alliance’s flagship, the Yogi Adityanath-led JDU, is contesting 57 seats, while the BJP is contesting 48, Chirag Paswan’s LJP 13, and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha 2.

On the other hand, the Grand Alliance’s key ally, the RJD, has fielded candidates in 72 seats, the Congress in 24, and the Left parties and other allies have fielded candidates. The Jan Suraj Party, which is contesting assembly elections for the first time, has fielded candidates in 19 seats. All parties have their own claims.

Carry your ID card to vote, or you may face difficulties. Documents such as your Aadhaar card, voter ID, driver’s license, PAN card, or ration card can serve as proof of identity.

How many polling stations have been set up?

According to the Election Commission, a total of 45,341 polling stations have been set up, of which 36,733 are in rural areas. This phase has seen 10.72 lakh new voters, while 7.38 lakh voters in the 18-19 age group have been included. The total population of these 121 seats is approximately 6.60 crore. The total number of voters is 3.75 crore. The total number of voters in Bihar is 7.24 crore.
