Delhi Siliguri Bullet Train: Big news is here about Delhi Siliguri bullet train. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw makes huge announcement on it. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced a new bullet train project for West Bengal on Saturday. This proposed bullet train corridor will connect Delhi to Siliguri.
The train will pass through major cities like Lucknow, Varanasi, and Patna. He stated that once the bullet train is operational, the journey from Delhi to Siliguri will take only about 6 hours and the journey to Varanasi will take 3.5 hours, significantly saving passengers time and making travel easier than ever.
The Railway Ministry has indeed revealed a new high-speed rail, commonly known as a bullet train, corridor in the Union Budget for 2026-27 aimed at enhancing travel across the nation. This ambitious project will link Delhi to Varanasi and Varanasi to Siliguri (West Bengal), cutting down the total travel time from Delhi to Siliguri to merely 6 to 7 hours. Additionally, the journey of over 800 km from Delhi to Varanasi will be completed in just 3.5 hours.
Delhi–Varanasi High-Speed Corridor
This corridor will provide a direct connection from the national capital, Delhi, to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Once it is operational, the roughly 865-kilometer distance will be traversed in just 3.5 hours, a significant reduction from the current travel time of 8 to 11 hours.
Station and Route Map
The route will commence at Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi and proceed to Varanasi (Manduadih) via Noida Sector 146, Jewar Airport, Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Kannauj, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, and Bhadohi.
Delhi to Siliguri Route Map
Upon full completion, this corridor will facilitate the approximately 1,500 km journey from Delhi to Siliguri in a remarkably short duration. It will connect Delhi, Noida, Jewar, Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Patna (Bihar), and Siliguri in West Bengal.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav mentioned that there is now a greater allocation of funds for railway development in West Bengal than ever before. While the UPA government allocated around Rs 4,000 crore, the Modi government has raised this amount to Rs 14,205 crore. He also pointed out that numerous railway projects in the state were delayed due to the previous government’s lack of approval.
In many instances, only administrative consent was needed, yet that was not secured, and some projects even ended up in court. According to the Railway Minister, West Bengal has already received Vande Bharat Sleeper and Amrit Bharat trains before many other states, and new projects will be initiated in the future.
