Air India Ticket Booking: Big news for flight passengers. Air India, a company owned by the Tata Group, has recently launched a cost-effective travel option for air passengers by introducing a new “Basic” fare category on specific domestic routes.

The main aim of this service is to offer budget-friendly tickets to travelers who are seeking affordable travel without any frills. The airline has initiated this new fare as a trial run. Passengers in the Economy class opting for this category will not be provided with complimentary meals during the flight, although they will still be served complimentary tea or coffee.

Here are the luggage restrictions for this category:

– Check-in Baggage: Passengers are allowed a maximum of 15 kg as checked luggage.
– Cabin Baggage: The limit for carry-on bags or cabin luggage taken inside the plane is set at 7 kg.

Despite the absence of complimentary meals with the basic fare ticket, passengers have the option to pre-book meals of their choice. Here’s how this works:
– 24 Hours Advance Booking: Passengers can select and pay for their preferred meals at least 24 hours before their flight.
– Variety of Options: The food menu offers various choices, including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, Jain, and diabetic meals, catering to different preferences and dietary needs.

In case of flight rescheduling, Air India provides flexible meal refund and transfer policies. If the flight timing changes or a passenger is transferred to a connecting flight, the purchased food will be transferred to the new flight. If the food is not available on the new flight due to technical reasons, a full refund will be provided.

The existing fare options will remain available as usual, without any impact on current customers. Travelers who desire all the amenities they previously had can still book tickets in the Value, Classic, and Flex fare classes, all of which include complimentary meals at no extra charge.

To book tickets for this new service, passengers can utilize Air India’s official website, mobile app, customer service center, or airport ticketing office. During this trial phase, Air India will carefully evaluate passenger feedback and responses. Based on the trial results, the airline will make a final decision on whether to permanently introduce the basic fare service on all routes or expand its availability.
