Alert for Storms, Rain, and Hailstorms
The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in parts of the eastern division today. Warnings have been issued for dust storms with speeds of up to 60 km/h in these districts. Temperatures have dropped sharply due to the rain; the department predicts a further drop of 4–6 degrees Celsius over the next 24 hours, followed by a rise of 3–5 degrees.
An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for Kanpur, Fatehpur, Hamirpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, and Mahoba, predicting strong storms and heavy rainfall. These districts also face warnings of thunderstorms and lightning strikes. Additionally, a ‘Yellow Alert’ for strong storms and rain is in effect for Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Baghpat, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, Bareilly, Badaun, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, and Kannauj.
Weather Outlook: From Lucknow to Varanasi
The capital, Lucknow, has seen partly cloudy skies since this morning. Light rain showers may occur in some areas over the next few hours. The weather is expected to clear up, and the sun will come out after 2:00 PM. The maximum temperature in Lucknow is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius today. Meanwhile, partly cloudy conditions prevail in Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur.
A ‘yellow alert’ has also been issued for thunderstorms and rain today in Hardoi, Unnao, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Gonda, Balrampur, Sitapur, Barabanki, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Basti, Deoria, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Chandauli, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra. Spells of light rain are expected to continue in parts of UP until June 17.
