Aadhaar Mobile Number Update Online: If you want to update the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card and are tired of repeatedly visiting Aadhaar centres, UIDAI has now introduced a convenient online option. With the Aadhaar app, users can update their mobile number from home without standing in long queues or visiting enrolment centres.
This means that changing your Aadhaar-linked mobile number is now fully online and hassle-free. The best part is that users do not need to upload or submit any documents for this process.
UIDAI Hints at Online Address Change Facility
Recently, UIDAI shared a post on the microblogging platform X, stating that an online address change facility may be launched soon. This indicates that, following the mobile number update feature, Aadhaar address updates can also be made from home via the Aadhaar app.
Once implemented, this will significantly reduce dependency on Aadhaar centres and make profile updates faster and more convenient for users.
How Aadhaar Mobile Number Update Works?
According to UIDAI, the system authenticates users through an OTP sent to their existing or new mobile number. After OTP verification, users must complete face authentication using the app’s built-in verification tools.
This two-step process is designed to ensure high security while providing a smooth, user-friendly experience. UIDAI has also clarified that this upgrade will almost eliminate the need for physical documentation and in-person visits.
How to Download and Use the Aadhaar App?
Android users can download the new Aadhaar application from the Google Play Store, while iPhone users can install it from the Apple App Store. After opening the app, users need to select their preferred language and enter their 12-digit Aadhaar number.
The app then verifies the user through an OTP sent to the registered mobile number. After completing face scan authentication, users must create a six-digit security PIN to protect their Aadhaar profile in the application.
