Samsung Galaxy A26 5G Review: 4 Reasons to Buy and 2 Reasons to Skip

Samsung Galaxy A26 5G: The Samsung Galaxy A26 5G comes into the mid-range with a decent balance of form and function. Android 15 out of the box, a light and thin build, and 5G connectivity features make it poised to strike a balance between speed and cost. But is it worth buying in a crowded marketplace? Let us break it down with four reasons to buy and two reasons to skip.

Four Reasons to Buy

Reason 1: Thin and Stylish Design

At only 7.7mm thick, the Galaxy A26 5G is among the thinnest in its class. The flat frame fingerprint sensor on the side lends it a premium design, though without sacrificing utility. Even being 200g, it maintains decent hand-feel, so it’s a fashion-conscious yet functional option.

Reason 2: Super-Bright AMOLED Screen with 120Hz Refresh Rate

Samsung has onboard the A26 5G with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, and while the resolution (1080 x 2340 pixels) and pixel density (385 ppi) are nothing to be applauded over, the panel is brilliant with inky colors and contrast. The 120Hz refresh rate reduces scrolling stutter and makes pictures in supported programs and games even more stunning, contributing to the experience.

Reason 3: OIS-Equipped Triple Camera Arrangement

The rear camera setup consists of a 50MP primary sensor with OIS that is designed to take snaps and eliminate blur. It’s complemented by 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP depth cameras. The phone also shoots 4K videos at 30fps, and the 13MP front camera is fine for selfies and video calls overall, an average setup for regular photography.

Reason 4: 5G and Expandable Storage

The phone is driven by Samsung’s own Exynos 1380 processor, alongside 8GB RAM and a further 8GB of virtual RAM to handle multitasking. Though the performance is midrange, it can support both 4G and 5G networks. You also receive a hybrid memory slot, which provides up to 2TB of storage expansion, something not available in this segment.

Two Reasons to Skip

Reason 1: Lack of Headphone Jack or FM Radio

One such glaring oversight is the missing 3.5mm headphone jack, something still cherished by consumers of low-cost devices. There is no FM Radio support either, something some of them may miss, particularly in areas where streaming opportunities are not all that common.

Reason 2: Slow Charging for Its Class

Although the 5000mAh battery is up to par, the 25W fast charging is rather slow, with other phones supporting 33W or even 67W charging in the same category. It may take longer than anticipated to be fully charged, particularly for heavy users.

Verdict: Worth Considering for Everyday Users

The Samsung Galaxy A26 5G boasts a pleasant middle-of-the-pack package of a vibrant screen, solid cameras, and fresh software. It cuts corners on some older features and charges slower, but it is worth it for those who want a thin, dependable phone with 5G capabilities on a budget.
