EPFO- Big news for EPFO subscribers. Nowadays it is the digital era. In this era of technology, many works are now done from home. There is no need to go to the office. Similarly, most of the work related to the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has become online. Meanwhile, EPFO has issued an alert to its crores of members. It has been said that do not take the help of any unauthorized agent, cyber cafe or fintech companies for services related to EPFO.

The Ministry of Labor and Employment said in a statement issued on Monday that in many cases these operators are only using the online complaint portal of EPFO, which any member can do himself, free of cost, from his home. EPFO has clarified that all its digital services – like filing a claim, withdrawing money from the account, updating profile or KYC and filing a complaint – are completely free, secure and available online from home.

The organization has taken this step because recently it has been seen in many cases that some private agents are charging huge fees from people in exchange for these free services. Due to which not only financial loss is being caused, but the confidential information of the members is also being put at risk.

Warning to EPFO members

EPFO has said that members should not take it from third party agents or cyber cafes. The reason for this is that these services are being provided absolutely free on the EPFO portal and UMANG app. EPFO has made several improvements in recent months so that the services can be fast, transparent and user-friendly. In these, KYC correction and member details correction have been simplified through Aadhaar authentication.

Now in most cases, approval is not required from either the employer or the EPFO to improve the profile. Apart from this, auto settlement facility of advance claims up to Rs 1 lakh has been implemented, which applies to cases like illness, house, marriage and education. Under this facility, a total of 2.34 crore claims were settled in auto mode in the financial year 2024-25.

The Ministry of Labor has said that EPFO members can register their complaints on the CPGRAMS or EPFiGMS portal. Which are monitored till the timely resolution. In the financial year 2024-25, a total of 16,01,202 complaints were received in EPFiGMS and 1,74,328 complaints in CPGRAMS. Of these, 98 percent of the complaints were resolved within the time limit.
