Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Food Menu: A new exciting chapter in Indian Railways’ history was opened on Saturday (January 17). Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train at Malda Town Railway Station in West Bengal. This train will travel between Howrah in West Bengal and Kamakhya (Guwahati) in Assam, covering a distance of 958 kilometers in just 14 hours. Additionally, an Assamese hospitality service company has landed the catering contract for India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train.

This company is the first in the Northeast to provide its specialty cuisine on this premium overnight service. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train, which will operate between Howrah and Kamakhya (Guwahati). The catering contract for this premium train has been given to Mayfair Spring Valley Resorts, a hospitality services company based in Assam.

Mayfair Spring Valley Resort, located in Guwahati, announced on Saturday that it has teamed up with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to be the official caterer for the train. Passengers will enjoy traditional dishes from West Bengal and Assam, made with locally sourced ingredients, as per a statement.

The menu features Basanti Pulao, Cholaar and Moong Dal, Chhanar (paneer) and Dhokar Dalna, Assamese Joha Rice, Mati Mohor and Masoor Dal, seasonal vegetable curries, and sweets like Sandesh, Coconut Burfi, and Rasgulla. The resort mentioned that the menu is tailored for overnight travel, emphasizing vegetarian options with milder spices, seasonal ingredients, and traditional cooking techniques.

Ratan Sharma, MD, Mayfair Spring Valley Resort, said, “Each dish has been specially crafted to reflect the authentic flavors of Bengal and Assam while keeping in mind contemporary dining preferences. The aim is to connect travelers with the local culture through food and provide a memorable experience.”
