Namo Bharat: In the midst of the soaring temperatures and heavy traffic in Delhi-NCR, there’s some good news for travelers. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has announced an increase in train services during peak hours on the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor. To meet the rising number of passengers, 10 extra train trips will now run between Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South.
This decision comes after the addition of eight new trips last week. As a result, passengers can now enjoy a total of 18 new train trips during peak hours. The NCRTC aims to minimize passenger wait times and enhance the overall travel experience.
Enhanced convenience during morning and evening rush hours
According to the updated schedule, 10 additional trips will be available during the morning peak hours from 7 am to 11:30 am. The eight extra services that were added for the evening peak hours from 5 pm to 8:30 pm will remain in place. This increased frequency will greatly benefit office workers, students, and daily commuters. More trains will lead to better seat availability and reduce long wait times for passengers. It’s worth noting that it hasn’t even been a week since the NCRTC added eight additional train trips. Puneet Vashisht, Public Relations Officer (CPRO) for the Delhi-Meerut Corridor of the NCRTC, explained that this expansion was done to provide greater convenience to daily commuters, so that they don’t have to wait long at the station to reach their destinations, and to facilitate their travel.
Daily passenger numbers approach one lakh
Passenger traffic on the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor is on the rise. The NCRTC reports that around 100,000 passengers now use this corridor each day. This trend indicates that more people are choosing public transport over private vehicles. Namo Bharat’s fast, safe, and air-conditioned travel service is gaining popularity among travelers.
Namo Bharat is providing relief in the scorching heat
These days, temperatures across the NCR, including Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, are reaching around 45 degrees Celsius. The intense heat and scorching sun have made road travel difficult. In such a situation, the fully air-conditioned Namo Bharat trains are proving to be a great relief for passengers.
While on one hand traffic jams and heat on the roads are increasing the problems of the people, on the other hand Namo Bharat is emerging as an option for comfortable travel in less time. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged people to use public transport more often. This initiative by the NCRTC is considered a major step in that direction.
