During a cabinet meeting, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta confirmed this decision, stating that both they and their families will qualify for benefits under the scheme. What is the Ayushman Bharat Yojana?

The Government of India introduced the Ayushman Bharat Yojana on September 23, 2018. It stands as the largest public healthcare initiative in the world. This program aims to offer cashless and paperless access to designated hospitals nationwide for millions of Indian families, particularly those with limited financial means.

What is covered during treatment?

Under the PMJAY scheme, each eligible family is entitled to cashless coverage of up to Rs 500,000 annually. The services included in the scheme cover medical tests, consultations, pre- and post-hospitalization care, medications, tests, medical procedures, accommodation, food, and even complications that may arise during treatment. This extensive coverage is designed to ensure financial security and access to healthcare for those who might otherwise encounter obstacles due to costs.
