Pension Update: This is a crucial time for government pensioners, as the deadline for submitting their Annual Life Certificate is approaching. If pensioners haven’t yet submitted their life certificate, they should do so immediately. In 2021, the government extended the deadline for submitting life certificates from November 30th to December 31st to provide relief to pensioners amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This deadline is unlikely to be extended this time. Therefore, pensioners who miss this process may face a temporary suspension of their pension.

Why is a Life Certificate Important?

A life certificate is a digital or physical document that verifies that the pension recipient is alive. Submitting this certificate every year is mandatory to prevent fraudulent pension payments. Without this certificate, pension disbursements are stopped.

How to Generate Your Life Certificate

Pensioners can generate their life certificates from the comfort of their homes. To do this, a digital life certificate can be generated using biometric and Aadhaar authentication by visiting https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/. After downloading the Jeevan Pramaan app, the pensioner must enter their Aadhaar number, pension ID, and mobile number. Following biometric verification, a digital life certificate is generated, which can be sent online to the relevant department.

Submit the certificate from home

Many banks have introduced doorstep banking for the convenience of pensioners. Under this service, bank representatives visit the pensioner’s home to perform biometric verification and submit the certificate. Banking services can be booked by visiting the website https://doorstepbanks.com/.

Currently, SBI, PNB, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Bank of India, Central Bank of India, UCO Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, and Union Bank of India offer this service. A nominal fee is charged for this service.
