Technology in Farming: Reducing Costs and Increasing Income

Today, farming is no longer just about hard work; modern technology and advanced machinery play a crucial role. Agricultural mechanization not only saves time but also reduces labor costs. With this in mind, the Uttar Pradesh government is encouraging farmers to adopt modern agricultural equipment, thereby increasing their income.

Applications Started on January 8th, Last Date is January 21st

According to the Department of Agriculture, the application process for purchasing subsidized agricultural machinery under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization scheme began on January 8, 2026. Interested farmers can apply online until January 21, 2026. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.

Special Scheme to Prevent Stubble Burning

Burning crop residue harms both the environment and the soil. Keeping this problem in mind, the state government is providing special subsidies on agricultural machinery related to crop residue management. The use of these machines will allow for the management of stubble in the field itself, preserving soil fertility and reducing pollution.

Which Machines are Eligible for Subsidies?

Under this scheme, subsidies are being provided on farm machinery banks, custom hiring centers, high-tech hubs for custom hiring, agricultural drones, and other individual agricultural implements. In addition, subsidies are available on equipment related to crop residue management under the In-Situ Crop Residue Management scheme. Assistance is also being provided for batch dryers, maize solar machines, and popping machines under the Accelerated Maize Development Program.

Government Subsidy of up to 50% Available

The state government is providing a subsidy of up to 50% to farmers on the purchase of agricultural machinery. This will reduce the financial burden on farmers and enable them to easily purchase modern equipment. It will also improve the quality of farming and increase productivity.

Entire Application Process is Online

Farmers need to apply through the official website of the Agriculture Department, agridarshan.up.gov.in. On the portal, they must go to the Farmer’s Corner and select the “Start Equipment Booking” option. The selection process will be completely transparent, and beneficiaries will be selected through an e-lottery.

Token Money Deposit Required

During the application process, farmers will have to deposit token money online, the amount of which will depend on the subsidy amount for the selected agricultural equipment. A lower token amount is required for equipment with a lower subsidy, and a higher amount for equipment with a higher subsidy.
