The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued several new rules to make the Aadhaar update process faster, easier, and completely digital. These rules, effective November 1, 2025, mean that you can now make corrections to your name, address, date of birth, and mobile number from the comfort of your home, eliminating the long queues at Aadhaar service centers. UIDAI states that these changes will make Aadhaar services more secure, user-friendly, and time-efficient.

Aadhaar Updates Will Now Be Completely Online

Previously, people had to visit an Aadhaar service center to make any corrections or changes to their Aadhaar card, which was often time-consuming. However, under the new system, the entire process can now be completed online from the comfort of their homes through the UIDAI portal.

Digital Verification Will Speed Up Work

The information submitted by users will be digitally verified using government documents such as PAN cards, passports, driving licenses, or ration cards. This digital verification system will make the entire process faster and more reliable, reducing the likelihood of errors and saving citizens time.

New and final deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking

According to UIDAI’s new guidelines, Aadhaar-PAN linking has been made mandatory for all PAN card holders. The deadline for this is December 31, 2025. If this deadline is missed, your PAN card will be deactivated from January 1, 2026, which could lead to serious problems with tax and other financial transactions. Additionally, those applying for a new PAN card will now be required to complete Aadhaar-based verification.

KYC Goes Completely Paperless

UIDAI has also made the KYC (Know Your Customer) process completely digital for banks and financial institutions. Customers will now be offered three methods to complete KYC: Aadhaar OTP-based verification, video KYC, and in-person verification (optional). This new system will complete the account opening and identity verification process within minutes, completely eliminating the need for paperwork.

Major Changes in Aadhaar Update Fees

UIDAI has also announced a new fee structure for Aadhaar services.

Updating name, address, or mobile number will now cost ₹75.

The fee for biometric updates (fingerprint, iris, or photo) has been increased to ₹125.

Biometric updates for children (5-7 years and 15-17 years) are completely free.

The online document update facility is free until June 14, 2026. After this deadline, the fee will be ₹75.

The fee for Aadhaar reprints has been fixed at ₹40.

The fee for home enrollment services will be ₹700 for the first person and ₹350 for the second person at the same address.

UIDAI officials have warned citizens that the Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline is extremely important. Failure to comply could lead to serious difficulties in financial transactions and tax matters. This digital-first approach is a major step towards empowering citizens to freely manage their Aadhaar information and making services more transparent.
