Ration Card Update: The three-month government deadline for e-KYC verification of beneficiaries registered on ration cards has expired, but the number of families who have not completed verification in time remains high. A total of 1,93,152 units have been found in the district that have not completed e-KYC. Although no formal order has been issued by the government regarding the deletion of names, the NIC currently holds the data of all these units. The government initiated this process to remove ration cards of ineligible individuals and deceased individuals, ensuring that only genuine beneficiaries receive free rations. For this purpose, e-KYC was made mandatory, and grain distribution was also stopped for those who did not complete e-KYC verification within the deadline.

The fact that such a large number of beneficiaries have not completed their verification even after the deadline raises questions about the implementation of government schemes. It’s unclear whether the government will give these people another chance or initiate action to remove them from the list. The District Supply Officer stated that further action will be taken only after receiving new government directives. A total of 703,763 ration cards are active in the district, with 2563,643 beneficiaries registered. During the e-KYC process, data for 1.93 lakh units disappeared from the list, indicating that they were not verified on time or that their details contained errors.
