Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: Railway minister makes big announcement regarding Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. During a media interaction in Jaipur on Thursday, Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnav, highlighted that the central government has implemented numerous significant measures to enhance railway development, improve connectivity, and modernize technological infrastructure in Rajasthan. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Rajasthan has attracted unprecedented investment in the railway sector, leading to a rapid expansion of rail facilities in the state.
Ashwini Vaishnav mentioned that prior to 2014, the railway budget allocated to Rajasthan was around Rs 600 crore. Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, this budget has seen a consistent increase, and currently, Rajasthan is benefiting from a historic allocation of Rs 10,228 crore for railways. He emphasized that this surge in investment has had a direct positive impact on the state’s passengers and railway infrastructure. Efforts to modernize the railway network and initiate new projects in Rajasthan are advancing swiftly.
While addressing the media, the Union Minister pointed out that there are approximately 450 railway stations in Rajasthan, with work underway to elevate platforms, extend platform lengths, and develop complete passenger sheds along with other modern amenities at over 200 stations at an accelerated pace.
Moreover, around 85 railway stations throughout the state are undergoing redevelopment as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Project. The modernization efforts at Jaipur Railway Station are also progressing quickly, with the station being upgraded with contemporary facilities.

Vaishnav further stated that Rajasthan has seen the introduction of several new train services in recent years. New Amrit Bharat and express trains have been launched from various cities, including Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur. He also mentioned that the Darbhanga-Ajmer train service, which was started at the request of the Jaipur MP, is set to provide significant relief soon. Currently operating weekly, this train will be converted to a daily service within the next two months, providing significant convenience to passengers.
The Union Minister stated that the central government is giving special priority to the development of railways and other infrastructure in border areas. Work is being rapidly underway on improved connectivity and development projects in Rajasthan’s border areas, which will benefit local people as well as strengthen the region strategically.
Vaishnav said that the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) in Jaipur will further strengthen its modern technical facilities. There are plans to develop state-of-the-art labs related to artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, and semiconductors. He said that these facilities will provide better information and training to the youth about new technologies, so that they can be prepared for future technological challenges and opportunities.
