MMUA Scheme: Central and state governments are constantly introducing new schemes to strengthen women’s empowerment in the country. Before the Bihar assembly elections, the Nitish Kumar government launched a Rs 10,000 scheme for women, directly benefiting millions of women. Now, along similar lines, a major initiative has been launched for women in Assam ahead of the assembly elections.

To boost women’s self-employment, the Assam government has started providing seed capital to women associated with self-help groups. The government claims that this scheme will increase employment in rural areas, improve family incomes, and enable women to establish their own small businesses. Let us tell you how women can apply for this scheme.

Assam government is giving Rs 10, 000

The BJP government in Assam has launched the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Campaign (MMUA), a scheme that provides initial capital of β‚Ή10,000 to members of women self-help groups in all 35 districts. According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, more than 1.5 million women have received this amount so far. The scheme was originally intended to reach 3.2 million women.

But now it has been increased to 4 million. According to government data, nearly 800,000 women have already become millionaires. Thousands of women have been given 10,000 rupees. The government says this is strengthening the rural economy and enabling women to start their own businesses.

What is the process to apply?

Only women who are affiliated with a recognized self-help group will benefit from this scheme. First, contact the self-help group operating at the Panchayat or Block level in your district. Documents such as your Aadhaar card, bank account, residence certificate, and affiliation with the group are collected from there. After verification, the first installment of Rs. 10,000 is transferred to the women’s bank accounts.

If a woman uses this money wisely and starts her own small business, the next step is even bigger. The government provides a loan of 25,000 rupees at a low interest rate. If the business is successful, she can receive up to 50,000 rupees in the third installment. The government’s goal is to give the state’s economy a new boost by making 4 million women Lakhpati Didis.
