Updates: In the midst of the ongoing global chaos, Bharat Gas has shared some positive news with its customers. Home delivery of LPG cylinders has resumed in several areas. This service was halted in many locations after the onset of the war due to a gas shortage, particularly affecting rural regions. It’s worth noting that HP had also previously initiated home delivery of LPG cylinders, which was later suspended.

Why was the service discontinued?

With the start of the war, there was a sudden spike in gas demand as people began to panic-buy. As a result, dealers stopped home delivery in numerous areas. However, now, with the implementation of stricter regulations, home delivery of LPG cylinders has recommenced in those regions.

Booking Rule

To combat black marketing, the government has tightened the rules for booking LPG cylinders. Now, you cannot obtain an LPG cylinder without an OTP. Under the new guidelines, you must first book an LPG cylinder using your registered mobile number. An OTP will be sent to your mobile, which you can then present to the dealer or to the delivery vehicle. The dealer will verify the OTP, and only then will you be able to receive a new LPG cylinder. Don’t forget to bring your gas passbook with you.

According to the regulations, residents of villages can only book a new cylinder after a waiting period of 45 days. In contrast, those living in cities are subject to a 25-day booking limit.

LPG cylinder prices stable

The prices of gas cylinders have remained steady for the last few weeks. The most recent increase was Rs 60 for domestic cylinders, while commercial cylinders experienced a price hike of over Rs 900, bringing the total cost to over Rs 3,000.India, which used to import a large portion of its LPG needs from abroad, is facing a difficult current situation. The near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted the supply of LPG cylinders, leaving the country facing a significant LPG crisis. The Indian government has directed the government to increase domestic LPG production.
