tatkal ticket booking Rules: Indian railways has introduced a new system for passenger convenience. A token system for Tatkal Ticket booking has been implemented at all stations in the Kota division of West Central Railway. With this new system, passengers will no longer need to stand in long queues for hours to book Tatkal tickets. The system has become transparent and streamlined.
Keep this in mind while booking train tickets; you will be confirmed to get a lower berth, IRCTC has explained the method. The Kota Division has implemented this system at all stations. Its primary objective is to reduce congestion at counters, provide convenience to passengers, and make the entire process transparent. The Kota Division is a significant part of the West Central Railway, extending primarily to Rajasthan and also covering parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
When and how will you get the token?
According to the new system, AC class Tatkal ticket tokens will be distributed from 9:00 AM to 9:25 AM. Sleeper class Tatkal ticket tokens will be issued from 9:30 AM to 9:55 AM. Passengers must arrive at the booking counter at the designated time. After receiving the token, tickets will be issued in the order of their token number. Railways have appealed to passengers to arrive on time to ensure smooth operation.
Before this system, Tatkal ticket booking times used to be accompanied by heavy crowds at stations. Fights and irregularities were often witnessed. The token system will largely eliminate these problems. According to railway officials, this step is an important initiative towards passenger convenience and better queue management.
This decision by the Kota division is being appreciated. If this system proves successful, it is likely to be expanded to other divisions. This system will provide relief to passengers, especially during festivals, summer holidays, and peak season.
Special Advice to travelers
Railways has clarified that the token system applies only to counter bookings. Online Tatkal booking will remain available through IRCTC as before. Passengers are advised to use online booking whenever possible, but this new facility is now available for those who wish to purchase tickets over the counter.
