Train Vendor Rules: For millions of passengers traveling on Indian railways, having access to quality and favorite food has always been a key requirement. Long-distance journeys often require passengers to rely on limited food options available at the station. Often, concerns arise about the quality, taste, and cleanliness of the food. Why did the Railways take this decision? Do you also purchase tea, samosas, water bottles, or any other food items while traveling on a train? Are you aware of the source of those items and their quality? Have you ever verified if the person selling them is an authorized vendor of the Railways? Is the product they are offering you authentic? If not, the Railways has now taken full responsibility for your safety. According to the new rule, only vendors with a valid ID featuring a QR code will be permitted to sell items on the train.
What should you consider before buying tea or samosas on the train?
As per the information shared by Kota Railway and the latest railway guidelines, every authorized vendor selling food on trains must possess an identification card with a QR code. If anyone is found selling items without an ID or in a questionable manner, it is advisable to refrain from buying from them. Such incidents can be reported immediately to railway authorities. Passengers should always verify the vendor’s QR code ID card before making any purchases.
The Railways has long received complaints about illegal vendors on trains. These individuals were often found selling food and beverages without authorization, raising questions about both passenger safety and quality. In light of this, the Railway Administration has decided to further tighten monitoring and enforcement measures. Now, only authorized vendors will be permitted to sell goods on trains.
TTE also got new responsibility
This time, not only the Railway Protection Force (RPF) but also the ticket checker, the TTE, has been given new responsibilities. If any unauthorized vendors are spotted on a train, the TTE will immediately inform the relevant authorities and the RPF, and action will be taken against them. The Railways believes this will help in quickly curbing illegal vendors.
