Recently, the government has clarified that eligible women will receive Rs 1,500 directly in their bank accounts by the 10th of every month.

What is this Griha Aadhar Yojana?

The then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar launched this scheme in 2012. The main objective of this scheme is to help housewives meet their daily expenses, medical expenses and children’s education expenses. Currently, on the orders of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, this payment process has been streamlined so that no eligible woman is deprived of this facility.

Who will get the benefits of this scheme? What are the eligibility criteria?

To avail the benefits of this scheme, the applicant has to fulfill certain conditions:

Age and Marital Status: The applicant woman must be at least 18 years of age and must be married.

Proof of Residence: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Goa. Proof that she has been living in Goa for the last 15 years is mandatory.

Financial Limit: To avail the benefits of this scheme, the annual income of the family must be within a certain limit. As per the rules, the combined annual income of the husband and wife should not exceed Rs 3 lakh.

Money directly in bank account

Earlier, there were some complaints of delay in receiving the money from this scheme. To resolve that problem, the Women and Child Welfare Department has completed the document verification work through special camps. From now on, the money will reach the accounts of the beneficiaries directly through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on the 10th of every month.
