: Farmers are essential to our nation, and it is our duty to honor them. The central government has implemented various schemes that offer economic stability and empowerment to farmers. The major schemes run by the Central Government for farmers include Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) , Kisan Credit Card (KCC) , and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) , which provide financial assistance, cheap loans and crop protection against natural calamities to farmers respectively.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

One of the key initiatives for farmers is the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which supports millions of farmers. On March, Prime Minister personally deposited the 22st installment into the accounts of 90 million farmers. This program is recognized as one of the largest cash transfer initiatives globally. Eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually through this scheme.

To secure the future of small and marginal farmers in the country, the central government introduced the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KISAN). This initiative aims to provide financial support to older farmers, specifically those over 60 years of age, by offering them a pension. This scheme ensures that farmers can enjoy a comfortable life after reaching a certain age. Farmers aged between 18 and 40 can enroll in this program. By contributing a minimal amount (between 55 to 200 rupees monthly), they can secure a pension of 3,000 rupees.

Kisan Credit Card Scheme

The Kisan Credit Card was established in 1998 to shield farmers from the grip of moneylenders. It offers affordable loans with reasonable interest rates. Farmers can utilize this card to buy agricultural inputs. They can access instant loans of up to Rs 3 lakh from the government with a 1.5% discount.

PM Fasal Bima Yojana

Through the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers are insured against crop losses with a premium ranging from 2 to 5 percent. The government covers the remaining costs. This scheme has been effective in stabilizing farmers’ incomes in cases of crop failure due to natural disasters, pest issues, or other factors. It aims to provide financial support to farmers while encouraging the adoption of new technologies.

PM Dhan Dhanya Agriculture Scheme

This scheme has benefited 17 million farmers. The Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana ( PMDAY) is designed to combine the benefits of 36 schemes. Under this scheme, work is underway to advance 100 backward districts. The scheme encourages farmers to increase crop storage and improves irrigation facilities.

Soil Health Card

Farmers get to know the quality of their farm soil, so they can increase their yield by using the right amount of fertilizer.

e-NAM Scheme

It is an electronic national agricultural market. Farmers can sell their produce to markets across the country through an online platform, ensuring they receive fair prices for their crops.

Agriculture Infrastructure Fund

Loans up to Rs 2 crore are provided to farmers for building post-harvest management infrastructure (like cold storage, warehouse) with 3% interest subsidy.
