Chhath Puja 2025 Bank Holiday: Today is Friday, October 24, 2025. Due to the festive season, banks will be closed for several days this week. Many people are confused about bank holidays. The question arises: are banks closed or open today? To clear this confusion, please check the RBI holiday list here before heading to the bank.
This week, several holidays were observed due to Diwali, Bhai Dooj, Bhai Bij, Chitragupta Puja, Lakshmi Puja, and Govardhan Puja. Banks are closed on different days in different states during these holidays. However, there is no festival today, Friday, October 24, so banks will remain open today. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks in Bihar and Jharkhand will be closed on October 27 and 28, 2025, to celebrate Chhath Puja. In West Bengal, banks will remain closed only on October 27, while banking services will continue as usual in other states.

In addition to weekends, banks are closed on national, regional, and religious festivals. The dates of these holidays may vary by state, as each state has its own bank holiday calendar.
While physical bank branches will remain closed in these areas, customers can continue to use a range of services – including internet banking, mobile apps, UPI and ATMs – for seamless transactions during the festive period.
