Farmers demand an increase
Farmers have been demanding an increase in the annual amount under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana for a long time. According to farmers, the cost of producing crops is constantly increasing. Fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and diesel, along with other agricultural inputs, are all becoming more expensive.
With rising inflation, it is not easy to cultivate crops with just ₹2,000. Therefore, the annual amount of ₹6,000 is considered very low. Farmers want the scheme to provide ₹10,000 annually.

How much will the instalments be then?
If the Modi government increases the amount under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to ₹10,000 in the Union Budget, it will be a significant gift. The first two installments of the year would then be ₹3,000 each, and the final installment would be ₹4,000. Approximately 10 crore farmers will benefit from this.
When will the budget be presented?
The central government may present its Union Budget on February 1, 2026. Farmers, salaried employees, and those in the unorganized sector, along with everyone else, have high expectations from this budget. This time, February 1 falls on a Sunday, a weekly holiday. Therefore, the budget date might be changed. The official budget date is expected to be announced by January 20.
