What is UIDAI’s new ‘e-Aadhaar’ app

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is rapidly working on a new e-Aadhaar app, which will be available on both Android and iOS platforms. Through this app, users will be able to easily update their Aadhaar information, such as name, date of birth, address, or mobile number, from the comfort of their homes. According to reports, this app could be launched by the end of 2025.

Currently, UIDAI’s m-Aadhaar app is available, which only allows for the storage of Aadhaar data. However, the new e-Aadhaar app will enable direct Aadhaar details updates. This will eliminate the need for citizens to visit Aadhaar centers for minor updates.

Security will be enhanced by AI and facial recognition

UIDAI does not want to compromise on security, so the e-Aadhaar app will be equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) and facial recognition technology. This technology will significantly reduce identity fraud and make the entire update process highly secure.

This app will automatically extract essential details from the user’s government documents, such as PAN card, passport, driving license, or ration card, making the update process faster.
