Baby Health Insurance: Now, even unborn babies can get health insurance! Bajaj General Insurance has rolled out a policy called Fetal Flourish, which is a health insurance plan specifically for fetuses, costing ₹1,025. It’s tailored for in-utero procedures, high-risk pregnancies, and advanced fetal treatments. This policy covers 16 specialized in-utero procedures for women aged 18 to 45.
You can get this policy alongside their main products, My Health Care Plan and Health Guard. Fetal Flourish combines medical know-how with smart insurance design to cater to prenatal care needs. The focus here is on safeguarding the unborn child while they’re still in the womb. Previously, families had to shoulder the full cost of these procedures because there wasn’t a dedicated insurance plan.

Rider up to Rs 2 lakh
This policy includes a rider of up to Rs 2 lakh, covering the first two events. You can get coverage for two obstetric events under the Basic Health Indemnity policy, but there’s a waiting period of 9 months from when the policy starts. Benefits will be available for these procedures. The 16 procedures covered include amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, percutaneous umbilical blood sampling, amnioinfusion, fetal tissue biopsy, amnio-reduction, thoracoamniotic shunt, fetoscopy, fetoscopic laser surgery for TTTS, fetal reduction, neural tube defects, fetal cystoscopic surgery, feto for congenital diaphragmatic hernia, amniotic band syndrome surgery, fetal aortic valvuloplasty, and more.
